About The Position

The Hazardous Waste/Industrial Waste Manager is responsible for managing, overseeing, and ensuring regulatory compliance for all hazardous and industrial waste operations. Operating as a Large Quantity Generator (LQG), this role requires a strong working knowledge of EPA/RCRA regulations, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements, and day-to-day, plant-level compliance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience managing hazardous waste at a Large Quantity Generator (LQG) facility.
  • 3+ years of experience managing Texas industrial waste regulations.
  • Current or recent EPA/RCRA hazardous waste management training.
  • Current or recent DOT Hazmat training.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience with EPA e-Manifest, TCEQ STEERS, Annual Waste Summary reporting, universal waste, used oil, lab packs, roll-offs, or tanker waste shipments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage hazardous waste, Texas industrial waste, universal waste, used oil, and other regulated waste streams from generation through final disposal.
  • Perform waste determinations using SDSs, process knowledge, analytical data, and facility information.
  • Assign accurate EPA hazard codes, Texas waste codes, and proper disposal classifications.
  • Prepare and maintain waste profiles for all regulated streams.
  • Obtain competitive transportation and disposal quotes; schedule approved waste shipments with transporters and disposal facilities.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain required shipping documents, including labels, manifests, and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDRs).
  • Ensure complete and accurate final disposal documentation is received and properly filed.
  • Conduct required inspections of central accumulation areas and satellite accumulation areas; verify containers are properly labeled, dated, closed, and compatible.
  • Maintain all LQG hazardous waste records, including waste determinations, profiles, manifests, LDRs, inspection logs, and disposal documentation.
  • Support LQG compliance requirements, including accumulation time limits, emergency preparedness, contingency plan updates, emergency Manager designation, emergency equipment, and coordination with local responders.
  • Assist with TCEQ reporting, STEERS submissions, Annual Waste Summary reports, and internal compliance audits.
  • Work directly with production, maintenance, lab, warehouse, vendors, transporters, and disposal facilities to ensure waste is handled properly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team and company objectives.
