About The Position

The City of Peoria’s Public Works Department is hiring an Equipment Operator in its residential collection division. The position involves operating heavy equipment and various types of solid waste equipment to perform assigned tasks, including excavating, trenching, street cleaning, and delivering refuse and recycling materials to the landfill. Equipment may include front-load, side-load, rear-load, and roll-off collection vehicles, as well as an articulated tractor. Applicants should list all commercial driving experience on their resume and application.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalency.
• At least 9–12 months of experience in a similar or related position.
• A valid Arizona Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at the time of hire.
• Depending on the assignment, a Class A CDL and/or Tanker and HazMAT endorsements may be required within 12 months of hire.
• List all commercial driving experience on the resume and application.
• Ability to perform heavy physical exertion and effort.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to complete assigned tasks such as excavating, trenching, street cleaning, and delivering refuse and recycling materials to the landfill.
• Operate various solid waste vehicles, including front-load, side-load, rear-load, and roll-off collection vehicles.
• Operate an articulated tractor.
