About The Position

Lake County Solid Waste is accepting applications for a part-time Driver/Operator. This role involves driving a transfer truck to various container sites, managing containers, performing minor repairs and maintenance on equipment, operating heavy equipment, and handling waste consolidation and compaction. The position also includes landfill duties and customer interaction.

Requirements

• Valid Class B CDL
• Acceptable driving record
• Minimum of 1 year of CDL driving experience in winter conditions
• Ability to operate large trucks and heavy equipment safely and skillfully
• Ability to conduct minor repair and maintenance of trucks and equipment
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather and temperatures
• Ability to work well with the public and coworkers
• Knowledgeable of all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the operation of commercial motor vehicles
• Ability to lift 80lbs
• Subject to drug and alcohol testing per FMCSA guidelines

Nice To Haves

• Class A CDL (required to obtain by end of probationary period if hired with Class B)
• Roll-off experience
• Pup trailer experience

Responsibilities

• Drive transfer truck to container sites
• Set empty containers
• Consolidate loaded containers
• Retrieve loaded containers
• Deliver and unload containers
• Clean area around container site, as well as truck and trailer
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment
• Operate heavy equipment
• Move and compact waste
• Perform landfill duties, including working at the ticket shack
• Perform other duties as assigned
