About The Position

Works under the direct supervision of an assigned supervisor performing heavy manual and general labor in the Solid Waste Management Service Center. Work includes residential and commercial refuse collection, recycling, and special collection services. Duties may include collecting refuse; manually loading, unloading, and moving materials; and assisting skilled trade personnel. Uses hand and motorized tools and equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform heavy manual work, including bending, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, crouching, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to traverse various surfaces.
• May be required to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform residential and commercial refuse collection, recycling, and special collection services.
• Collect refuse and manually load, unload, and move materials.
• Assist skilled trade personnel.
• Use hand and motorized tools and equipment to perform assigned job functions.
• Perform additional functions, essential or otherwise, as assigned.
