About The Position

Works under the direct supervision of an assigned supervisor, performing heavy manual and general labor in the Solid Waste Management Service Center. Work includes residential and commercial refuse collection, recycling, and special collection services. Duties may include collecting refuse; manually loading, unloading, and moving materials; and assisting skilled trade personnel. The role uses hand and motorized tools, including a lawn mower, weed trimmer, shovel, rake, broom, and pitchfork.

Requirements

• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform heavy manual work involving bending, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, crouching, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to traverse various surfaces.
• May be required to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform residential and commercial refuse collection, recycling, and special collection services.
