About The Position

This position is within NextEra Energy’s Power Generation organization and supports daily operations at a solar site. Work includes heavy equipment operation and maintenance, vegetation management, and general site support. The technician performs routine maintenance in the photovoltaic solar field, supports seasonal winterization and summer-readiness preventive maintenance, and may be medically cleared and required to wear a respirator. The job overview also describes mirror and heat-collecting-element tube cleaning as the main focus. The technician works as part of a six-person crew operating mirror-washing equipment, including tractors, water trucks, and washing-brush equipment. When washing cannot be performed, the crew may complete site cleanup or minor maintenance on washing equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid non-CDL driver's license.
Demonstrated safety behaviors and values.
Experience: 0+ years.
Ability to operate heavy equipment and vehicles and load and tie down trailers.

Responsibilities

Perform daily maintenance and operational support activities at the solar site.
Operate and maintain heavy equipment and industrial vehicles.
Maintain vegetation in solar fields, including mowing and weed management in substations, inverter pads, common areas, and BESS yards.
Perform preventive maintenance for seasonal winterization and summer readiness.
Interact with routine contractors and vendors.
Load and secure trailers, and maintain roads, gates, and general buildings.
Work with herbicides.
Wash mirror panels and heat-collecting elements using washing equipment.
Perform minor repairs on washing equipment as needed.
Perform site cleanup when mirror washing cannot be accomplished.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
