About The Position

Fluidstack is seeking a Solar Lead to own Solar strategy and deployment. This role involves managing commercial relationships with solar developers, suppliers, independent power producers, and behind-the-meter generation partners across active US data center markets. The position requires negotiating solar PPAs, behind-the-meter offtake agreements, and retail power arrangements, as well as structuring terms and running scenario analyses. The Solar Lead will also engage in interconnection processes, state and federal regulatory proceedings, and policy engagements affecting behind-the-meter generation. A key responsibility is partnering with the site acquisition team to assess solar resource quality, supply chain constraints, and generation potential for prospective locations. The role also involves quarterbacking solar workstreams across design, construction, finance, and grid operations, and distilling market, regulatory, and technology developments for leadership.

Requirements

  • Managed a portfolio of large-scale infrastructure or data center projects with complexity from the number of concurrent sites.
  • Built a program tracking processes, systems, and reporting pipelines from scratch.
  • Experience quarterbacking across construction, utilities, legal, finance, and operations simultaneously.
  • Owned stage-gate or milestone frameworks coordinating handoffs between site selection, engineering, permitting, and operations.
  • Ability to identify schedule risk and cost exposure early and know how to address them.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, capable of summarizing complex portfolio status to leadership.
  • Experience with data center powered shell or leased capacity deal structures.
  • Knowledge of utility interconnection and power market dynamics.
  • Understanding of AI infrastructure constraints and chip-lock scheduling.
  • Experience with portfolio-level tooling or automation built on top of spreadsheet-era data.
