About The Position

Field Engineer I will perform accurate construction activity tracking, while maintaining safety and quality requirements at a project. This person will support multiple aspects of both engineer, procure, and construct (EPC) and balance of plant (BOP) projects in the utility and renewable energy sector. There are currently project locations across the country and candidates should be ready to travel to any of our project sites for their role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering or construction management (or equivalent) or 2 years equivalent and relevant work experience, required.
  • Ability to travel 76-100% of the time domestically required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Construction site safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Reading prints and drawings and taking off quantities.
  • Interpretation and understanding Contract documents including scopes of work (SOW), schedule of value (SOVs) and budgets.
  • Use of computer software, including Heavy Job, Bluebeam, Procore, Microsoft Office suite, and other proprietary systems.
  • Interpretation and understanding of project schedules.
  • Vendor and materials management.
  • Functional competencies include accountability, communication, responsibility/stewardship, teamwork, prioritization, and self-knowledge & self-learning.
  • Ability to be adaptable and capable of covering multiple scopes as required.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 + year of experience in BESS, Substation, Transmission, and/or renewable energy EPC contract experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate construction activity tracking, while maintaining safety and quality requirements at a project.
  • Support multiple aspects of both engineer, procure, and construct (EPC) and balance of plant (BOP) projects in the utility and renewable energy sector.
  • Lead by example to show that safety is the most important function, reinforcing safe behaviors and correcting unsafe actions.
  • Ensure Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) are completed daily.
  • Conduct safety walks regularly.
  • Participate in morning meetings and All-Hands meetings with project personnel.
  • Support the development of project specific standard work instructions.
  • Verify field installation is per the engineered IFC and manufacturer specifications.
  • Prepare and support closeout documentation, job books, and lessons learned.
  • Support Continuous Improvement through feedback and review of Nonconformances and Lessons Learned on a project.
  • Review environmental plans and permits for compliance.
  • Assist with permitting and conduct environmental inspections.
  • Ensure adherence to all permit conditions on-site.
  • Review and understand the schedule and budget constraints of the project.
  • Support 3-week lookaheads and resource tracking.
  • Support resolution of field-level technical issues.
  • Coordinate with appropriate individuals to create preparatory meeting templates to support project planning and task direction.
  • Coordinate timely procurement of labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Support the superintendents with daily tracking of time and production quantities.
  • Complete Plan of Day (POD) reports in a timely, accurate, and consistent manner.
  • Track progress versus the baseline schedule.
  • Maintain updated Foreman Handbooks with current documents.
  • Create and compile shake-out maps to assist material staging onsite.
  • Perform material receiving, inventory and management activities to support production.
  • Understand and adhere to client’s expectations.
  • Professionally communicate to strengthen and continually maintain client relationships.
  • Present, support, and lead-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Operate company-assigned vehicle in a safe manner in all types of road and weather conditions.
  • Utilize, and ensure utilization of, the Safety Management System (SMS), the Quality Management System (QMS), and the Environmental Management System (EMS) throughout a project’s lifecycle.
  • Attend work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Comply with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Be adaptable and capable of covering multiple scopes as required.
  • Follow safety and security procedures and determine appropriate action.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions and use materials and equipment properly.
  • Ensure that safety is the most important function, follow safe practices while working.
  • Reinforce safe behaviors and eliminate “at risk” behaviors.
  • Ensure Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
  • Adhere to and understand standard operating procedures.
  • Receive job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing.
  • Follow technical, quality and safety systems in place and determine appropriate action.
