About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to sort returned, soiled linen into appropriate classifications in preparation for washing. This involves opening customer-returned soil bags (weighing approximately 45 lbs each), discarding plastic, and spreading the product out on a soil belt for visibility. Operators on the work platform will move between multiple positions, sorting into appropriate bins or slots. They will also move empty carts to the appropriate area for cleaning and reuse. Any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary are also part of the role.

Requirements

• Production standard: 45 bags or 2000 lbs. opened per hour for each operator.
• Ability to lift 10-50 lbs.
• Ability to apply 10-20 lbs. of pulling/pushing force.
• Requires reaching at or below shoulders.
• Picking up bags from inside bins and placing them on table where they proceed to break bags open.
• Requires simple grasping with right and left hands.
• Requires power grasping with right and left hands.
• Requires pushing/pulling with right and left hands.
• Category 1: Tasks involve exposure to blood, fluids, or tissue.

Responsibilities

• Open customer returned soil bags (bags weigh ~45 lbs.), discard plastic, spread product out to allow for visibility on soil belt.
• Pre-sort classifications as required.
• Operators located on the work platform float between multiple positions moving up and down the belt sorting into the appropriate bins or slots.
• Move empty carts to appropriate area for cleaning and reuse.
• Dispose of anything unusual or outside of regular items found in soil bags appropriately.
• Call maintenance for repair of equipment if something is not working correctly.
• Tag broken carts for maintenance to repair.
