About The Position

Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Software Test Engineering Co-op to join our Software Engineering (Beatbox) team located in Danvers. At Johnson & Johnson, we believe health is everything. We are seeking a motivated and versatile Co-op student for our Software Test Engineer role at Abiomed, starting in January 2027. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and gain hands-on experience in software testing for medical devices, specifically using Pytest and other in-house tools for end-to-end testing. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about ensuring high-quality software and eager to learn and grow in a dynamic environment. You’ll work alongside a diverse team of engineers, gaining hands-on experience with the latest technologies while solving meaningful challenges that directly influence our company’s goals.

Requirements

  • Junior, Senior, or Grad student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
  • Familiarity with automated test frameworks such as Pytest is essential
  • Understanding database concepts and experience with SQL-based databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) or NoSQL databases.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, Rust, Python, or JavaScript
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to learning and adapting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate optimally in a team environment.
  • Proven experience through coursework, personal projects, or previous internships.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in electrical engineering, signals and systems, and embedded devices is a plus
  • Contributions to open-source projects or a personal portfolio are a plus.
  • Previous experience or coursework in Software development or testing projects.
  • Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies is advantageous.
  • Passion for learning about and working with new technologies and tools.
  • Experience with Embedded Software involving Low Level Languages such as C, C++, Rust, Go is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using tools such as Pytest and others for end-to-end testing of medical device software
  • Collaborate with developers and QA team members to understand application requirements and design comprehensive test plans.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects and issues, and work closely with the development team to resolve them.
  • Participate in code reviews and walkthroughs to ensure code quality and to align with industry standards.
  • Perform manual and automated testing to ensure application functionality, performance, and security.
  • Generate and review test reports and provide insights and recommendations for improvements based on test results.
  • Contribute to the improvement of test processes and methodologies and stay up to date with the latest testing tools and techniques.
