About The Position

RFA Engineering is seeking a growth-oriented candidate, from entry-level to experienced, to join their engineering team as a Software Test Engineer. The selected candidate will work with experienced engineers using state-of-the-art tools and processes. This position will operate onsite at a customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility. This is a full-time position with a full benefit package, offering opportunities for professional growth, direct hire by customers, and additional opportunities within RFA Engineering. The role involves developing, executing, and automating the testing of electrical systems and software that control vehicle operation and functions, utilizing methods such as diagnostic troubleshooting, automated software testing, and full or partial machine testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's of Science degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Ability to interpret software requirements, state diagrams, and test plan documentation.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to identify needed actions and act to resolve issues.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Ability to operate machinery or heavy equipment during testing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and document Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-Loop (SIL) validation strategies, test plans, and procedures for vehicle-level software features to ensure compliance with functional and performance requirements.
  • Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases for embedded software applications.
  • Create and maintain test scripts for embedded platforms, covering functional, integration, boundary, negative, and stress testing scenarios.
  • Analyze test results, identify software and system-level defects, perform root cause investigations, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to drive corrective actions and resolution of complex integration issues.
  • Validate embedded software interactions with sensors, actuators, communication networks, and vehicle subsystems, ensuring reliable operation under normal, boundary, and fault conditions.
  • Support verification and validation activities throughout the product development lifecycle, including requirements reviews, test case development, traceability analysis, regression testing, and release readiness assessments.
  • Participate in tactical meetings with project leaders.
  • Support testing efforts to ensure the timely release of content to support product delivery launches.
  • Ensure end-to-end traceability between requirements and test cases while maintaining test documentation to support quality, compliance, and project deliverables.
