A Day in the Life As a Software Test Engineer, you will ensure the quality and reliability of a complex, distributed system composed of multiple interconnected nodes. You will design and execute integration tests across services, interfaces, and data flows, with a strong emphasis on test automation and robust scripting. You will collaborate closely with development, systems, and architecture teams to validate end-to-end behavior, diagnose issues across components, and continuously improve our automation frameworks and test coverage. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Ensures software applications or systems software meets technical and functional requirements. Performs workflow analysis, documents test results and recommends quality improvements. Works with development to resolve software defects and diagnose/improve product configuration for current and future models. Reviews test automation frameworks, tools, techniques, and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience in SW testing
  • Working knowledge of embedded software development best practices.
  • Experience in test protocol development and requirement tracing and test execution
  • Experience with creating and maintaining test automation frameworks
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience in navigating FDA and ISO/IEC standards, including ISO 13485, IEC62304, and ISO 14971.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity techniques such as code signing and encryption
  • Background in DevOps, CI/CD, embedded software toolchains and version management systems
  • Experience in Agile SW Development methodology

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and execute integration test strategies for complex systems with multiple interacting nodes and services.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and test suites (API, integration, regression, system-level) to ensure scalable, repeatable validation.
  • Build and enhance test automation frameworks, tools, and pipelines to improve efficiency, reliability, and visibility of test results.
  • Validate data and control flows across nodes, including message formats, protocols, interfaces, and error handling paths.
  • Analyze defects and issues spanning multiple components; work with developers, architects, and systems engineers to identify root causes and drive fixes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and acceptance criteria, ensuring testability and clear integration contracts.
  • Document test designs, test cases, and results; provide clear, actionable feedback and quality signals to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, coding standards for test automation, and best practices for integration validation.
