About The Position

In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam's etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry. As a Software Engineer at Lam, you will be at the forefront of innovation by designing, developing, and troubleshooting, and debugging software programs. Your role is pivotal in developing software tools that support design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. Your expertise will determine hardware compatibility and influence design, ensuring seamless integration between software and hardware. In this role, you’ll make an impact across Lam’s entire product portfolio of equipment working within our centralized software engineering team, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Test Automation, or Software Validation.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies including Functional, Integration, Regression, System, GUI, and Performance Testing.
• Experience developing automated test solutions for enterprise, desktop, or control software applications.
• Proficiency in programming or scripting using Java, Python, or similar languages.
• Hands-on experience with GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT for testing and automation activities.
• Ability to independently own testing activities.
• Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of computer architecture and operating systems.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to work on desktop-based applications, equipment control software, and hardware-integrated software solutions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience building Generative AI agents to support QA workflows and testing functions.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted or vibe coding techniques for automated test generation.
• Familiarity with automation frameworks and modern testing tools.
• Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Exposure to semiconductor equipment software, industrial automation, or hardware-integrated applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies for desktop-based and equipment control software applications.
• Create and maintain automated test suites to improve release quality, coverage, and execution efficiency.
• Develop test cases, test data, test plans, and validation scenarios for new product features and software releases.
• Leverage GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT to accelerate test case generation, automation scripting, and quality engineering workflows.
• Qualify new software releases, patches, and enhancements before deployment to customers.
• Investigate, reproduce, analyze, and troubleshoot customer-reported software issues.
• Perform detailed log analysis, debugging, root-cause identification, and defect reporting.
• Partner with engineering teams to ensure timely issue resolution and high-quality customer outcomes.
• Explore AI-powered quality engineering solutions, test automation frameworks, and intelligent defect analysis techniques.
• Drive quality improvements through automation, process optimization, and modern engineering practices.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
