Software Systems Engineer
About The Position
Information Technology Strategies, Inc. is a government IT solutions provider servicing commercial and government initiative in various parts of the United States. We are currently seeking a Software Systems Engineer to work for our company. The client agency is the Defense Logistics Agency. This role provides specialized expertise within multiple systems, software disciplines, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines, and applications implications. The engineer is responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support. They will assist in the planning and conversion for new hardware/software products, maintain currency, debug and configure related software products. The role also involves operating systems planning and evaluation for performance analysis, capacity planning and hardware upgrades. The engineer will work from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications, assisting with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs. They will interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, setting standards and improving overall efficiency of the operating system, and prepare product documentation. Additionally, the engineer will interface with customers to gather information on system requirements or problems.
Requirements
- Must possess IT-II security clearance or have a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC). (Basic Federal Clearance requirements are U.S. Citizenship, clear criminal history check, no recent or pending bankruptcies).
- Eight (8) years of experience in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems/Technology).
- Must have experience in web component applications, XML, including schema definitions & generation (XSD), Relational Databases and serving as a Webmaster.
- Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority.
Responsibilities
- Performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.
- Assisting in the planning and conversion for new hardware/software products.

- Providing operating systems planning and evaluation for performance analysis, capacity planning and hardware upgrades.
- Working from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications.

- Interfacing with other system support groups to resolve problems, setting standards and improving overall efficiency of the operating system.
- Preparing product documentation.
- Interfacing with customers to gather information on system requirements or problems.
