About The Position

HP IQ’s System Software team enables on-device experiences to take full advantage of hardware capabilities. The team collaborates with internal and external partners in a high-leverage, startup environment, focusing on solutions unique to its hardware, sensors, algorithms, and interaction models. This role contributes to a first-of-its-kind product as part of an embedded software team.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in system software engineering and embedded platforms.
Experience with at least one of C++ or C.
Strong background in systems design and architecture.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Android development, Linux, or Windows.
Familiarity with porting reference algorithms to hardware accelerators such as GPUs or DSPs.
Familiarity with developing firmware for microcontrollers, including bare-metal or RTOS environments.
Experience with ARM or Qualcomm chip architecture.
Ability to use common lab equipment, such as logic analyzers, to debug low-level software issues.
Desire or experience working in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

Assist with system design and architecture.
Develop low-level driver and framework software in C and C++.
Develop device-focused infrastructure software in Python.
Debug issues at the interface between hardware and software.
Optimize software for improved performance and lower power consumption.
Participate in software engineering processes, including documentation, testing, and code review.
