About The Position

This position is an internship conversion opportunity within the Software Implementation and Integration Department (SIID) of the Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD). The ISCD staff utilize cutting-edge information system technologies such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, combined with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development. They deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software-intensive systems to customers in the Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian sectors. The SIID department focuses on exciting work in a growing industry, applying the latest software technologies and architectural understanding to space systems for customers in the Space Force, Air Force, NASA, and other federal and commercial industries.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college/university program in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
  • Prior internship at The Aerospace Corporation.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • 0-1 year of industry work experience
  • Ability to lead tasks and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong software engineering life-cycle experience and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: DODAF and generation of related models and dashboards, Data lakes and data pipelining, Model-based systems engineering and complex systems modeling, AI/ML (LLM, Neural Network, NLP, etc.), Alternative software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, etc.).
  • Willing to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Transcripts required.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to clearly convey complex technical information to a wide range of audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Providing software systems engineering skills to space, ground, and launch systems in the national security, civil, and commercial domains.
  • Leveraging a wide range of technical skills to solve complex problems in various software systems domains such as software development; software architectures; enterprise systems; technology recommendations; cloud and virtualization deployments; microservices and API development; and systems modeling.
  • Identifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges.
  • Driving positive change by introducing new perspectives, challenging established practices, and fostering a culture of innovation within the team.
  • Collaborating with teams across the corporation to develop cross-domain space solutions.
  • Operating strategically through engaging with customers in leveraging the latest technology that provides innovative solutions to their challenging problems in the space arena.
