About The Position

The Software Support Specialist provides technical support for automated material handling software systems and equipment in warehouses and distribution centers using an array of technical tools to test and commission systems and perform complex troubleshooting and problem solving. The role involves knowledge of software testing, design & debugging, operating systems and databases.

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar work
  • Experience with troubleshooting and debugging software
  • Experience with software testing, QA, UAT and commissioning
  • Experience with Linux/Unix and SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL etc.)
  • Experience with service ticketing and issue tracking (ie. Jira)
  • Open to travelling to support system ramp-up and project go-live

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to object-oriented programming languages (such as Java) or scripting
  • Experience with WMS and ERP is a plus (ie. Manhattan, SAP, MS Dynamics)
  • Experience in industrial automation and supply chain is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and resolves issues with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Material Flow Systems (MFS)
  • Recognizes mechanical or logical issues and escalates, as necessary, for resolution
  • Designs and executes test cases for commissioning and identification of system issues
  • Trains internal and external customers to increase system knowledge, resolve issues and prevent issues from recurring
  • Creates and maintains documentation and training materials for system use, service & maintenance
  • Generates, analyzes and maintains reports detailing the daily operations of the systems and to identify opportunities for continued improvement
  • Effectively communicates with team members and customers in high-impact scenarios
  • Some travel required to commission software at customer’s sites
  • Shift work on an as needed basis for system support and commissioning
  • Participates in customer and internal meetings
  • Assists software development team with projects and implementations
  • Works as part of an international team to ensure maximum system uptime
