About The Position

The Software Quality Test Engineer 3 is responsible for ensuring the delivery of secure, compliant, and high-quality software across both new product development and sustaining products. This role operates within a modern Software Quality Engineering model, grounded in shift-left and continuous quality principles, with a strong focus on defect prevention, robust verification, and lifecycle traceability. The Software Quality Test Engineer 3 is responsible for designing and executing testing activities based on product requirements, risk, and regulatory expectations. This role collaborates closely with Software Development, Systems Engineering, DevOps, Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs), and global teams to ensure quality is incorporated throughout the software development lifecycle. A key focus of this role is creating high-quality, repeatable, and traceable test cases, identifying appropriate manual and automated test approaches, and partnering with SDETs to support implementation of automation aligned with defined verification objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software quality engineering, software testing, or a related software engineering discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing principles and quality engineering practices.
  • Experience developing manual and automation-ready test cases.
  • Understanding of risk-based testing methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycles, including Scrum and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with requirements traceability and software verification activities.
  • Ability to analyze test results and perform defect investigation.
  • Understanding of automated testing concepts and collaboration with SDETs.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with modern test management and defect tracking tools.
  • Experience working effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans for features, products, and releases based on requirements, risk, and intended use.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive, repeatable, and traceable test cases aligned to software requirements and risk controls.
  • Design high-quality test cases with clear preconditions, test steps, expected results, and automation considerations.
  • Identify opportunities for test automation and collaborate with SDETs to support automated test implementation.
  • Execute manual testing and evaluate automated test results to assess software quality and requirements compliance.
  • Analyze test results and investigate failures to determine whether issues are caused by software defects, test defects, or environmental conditions.
  • Document software defects with sufficient detail to support investigation and resolution.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, risk controls, test cases, test execution results, and defects.
  • Participate in requirements and design reviews to provide input on quality, completeness, consistency, and testability.
  • Participate in software impact assessments to identify affected requirements, test cases, and areas requiring regression testing.
  • Support shift-left quality practices by collaborating with development, systems, and DevOps teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to release readiness activities by ensuring verification activities are completed and documented appropriately.
  • Support continuous improvement of SQE processes, tools, and practices.
  • Support cybersecurity, performance, and reliability testing activities as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, quality system, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure test assets are understandable, maintainable, and executable across locations.
  • Assist in reviewing peer test cases and test artifacts for completeness and quality.
  • Support adoption of modern quality engineering practices and tools.
