About The Position

The Quality Engineer III is a senior individual contributor accountable for the quality engineering practice on one or more Agile teams. The role owns the test automation architecture and framework, sets test strategy for complex or high-risk work, and partners with engineers and product owners during analysis and design to address quality upstream. It also improves quality engineering across the organization through tooling, standards, pipeline design, and delivery-quality metrics, and mentors Quality Engineers I and II. The position is fully remote. The employee must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, and champion LMCU’s core values of curious minds, collaborative hearts, and continuous excellence.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of related experience, including substantial hands-on test automation development and ownership of a test framework or automation strategy.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in CIS/CS or a mathematical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expertise in test automation, including framework design, programming, CI/CD integration, and automated quality practices across the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of quality engineering principles, including functional, API, performance, security, and data validation testing, and experience defining and measuring quality metrics.
  • Experience leading quality initiatives in Agile environments, including mentoring, code reviews, and establishing testing standards and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted and agentic testing tools, with the ability to evaluate, govern, and promote responsible adoption of AI-driven quality engineering solutions.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the test automation framework and architecture, including patterns, shared libraries, and coding standards for test code.

  • Define test strategies and risk models for complex, cross-system, or high-exposure work, including third-party integrations and vendor-delivered software.
  • Determine what to automate, at which layer, and what to validate through other means.
  • Partner with development teams from analysis and design onward; assess project and task risks, challenge requirements and architecture for testability and failure modes, and shape acceptance criteria before development begins.
  • Design and maintain CI/CD quality gates, integrating automated, performance, and security testing and setting release-blocking criteria.
  • Evaluate quality engineering processes and tools, identify gaps, and lead improvements to increase first-time-right delivery and reduce defect escape rates.
  • Review the accuracy of test results and quality signals and act on their findings.
  • Mentor and coach Quality Engineers and developers in automation, testability, and quality practices.
  • Serve as the escalation point for difficult defects and hard-to-reproduce failures.
