About The Position

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will support various projects located in Cape Canaveral, FL as part of the Lockheed Martin MSP Subcontract. The Software QA Engineer is involved in all phases of the software quality assurance engineering process, including but not limited to: Designing, executing, and documenting functional, integration, and regression testing. Building and maintaining automated testing tools and frameworks. Writing and validating user story acceptance criteria to ensure each feature meets its intended purpose. Documenting test findings clearly and concisely for stakeholders. Debugging and troubleshooting software issues across platforms. Applying continuous improvement methodology to refine test processes, tooling, and overall product quality. In this collaborative role you will work with developers, systems engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high quality, reliable custom applications for internal and external partners.

Requirements

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in a STEM related field.
  • Requires a minimum of 7 years' recent work experience in aerospace/space.
  • Possess knowledge in Aerospace Software Quality Assurance policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience reviewing Software Quality Assurance documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a member of strong, cohesive teams and to interact well with employees at all levels of an organization.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.

  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check and some positions require clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of systems thinking and the interdependencies of elements within a system as well as Process Variation, Deming's approach to Systems, and an understanding of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.) are plus.
  • Demonstrated capability in writing clear and detailed inspection reports, discrepancy documentation, and nonconformance records.
  • Participation in process‑improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Define test automation frameworks, test plans, and test cases aligned with program requirements and industry standards.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and performance testing; log defects, track root cause analysis, and verify fixes; generate clear test reports and metrics.
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites and CI/CD pipelines; evaluate, configure, and support test tools.
  • Write precise acceptance criteria for user stories; validate that delivered software meets those criteria before sign off.
  • Produce thorough, traceable documentation of test cases, execution results, and defect investigations.
  • Diagnose software failures, reproduce issues in test environments, and collaborate with developers to resolve defects.
  • Identify gaps in test coverage or process inefficiencies and propose enhancements; mentor junior QA staff and assist with onboarding.
  • Partner with developers, hardware engineers, and mission planners; participate in design reviews, sprint ceremonies, and risk assessments; provide early stage QA input.
