This Software/ Principal Software Engineer position supports the United States Army�s Integrated Air and Missile Defense [IAMD] Battle Command System (IBCS). This system is used to protect the US and our allies from air and missile threats. This program is used to integrate numerous air and missile defense systems (THAAD, PATRIOT, PAC-3, IFPC) with various radars and sensors to effectively manage and operate these defensive weapon systems through a seamless battlefield management system. In this role, you will support the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) program on Engagement and Track Management Agile Software Teams, working closely with systems and test engineers to build robust, secure, and scalable software solutions that address complex logical and mathematical challenges in support of Global C2 missions. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on development, solving complex technical problems, and collaborating in a highly integrated, Agile environment. These positions require US citizenship, an existing DoD clearance (Secret or higher), and on-site work at a facility in Huntsville, Alabama (telework is not available).

Requirements

Software Engineer- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in STEM field and 0 years of experience.
Principal Software Engineer- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and at least 5 years of relevant experience, Master's degree in STEM field and 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD in STEM field and 0 years
Strong software development experience with: - Java (approximately 50% of effort) - C++ (approximately 50% of effort)
Experience with scripting languages and tools, including: - Bash (key skills: SSH and SCP) - Perl - Python
Proficiency in Linux-based development and runtime environments.
Experience with modern configuration management and source control tools (Git / GitLab).
Knowledge of encryption techniques and data-at-rest preservation.
Current CompTIA Security+
Active Secret Clearance.
US citizenship

Nice To Haves

Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including Cameo or similar tools.
Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks, continuous integration, and test automation.
Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD pipelines.
Experience supporting real-time or distributed systems using RTI/DDS publish/subscribe middleware.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications and software systems that implement logical and mathematical solutions for Global C2 missions.
Work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels of the organization.
Participate on Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Scrum teams to develop and maintain software products across multiple software baselines.

Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability; be willing to learn new technologies and operate outside of your comfort zone as mission and program needs evolve.
Perform software development and upgrades in multiple programming languages/versions while minimizing changes to the operational behavior of tactical software.
Support Help Desk�like troubleshooting on software test lines and environments.
Provide software sustainment support including log file maintenance, RTI/DDS publish/subscribe configuration, software version tracking, data recording and playback, and Interactive Data Language (IDL) management.
Support documentation creation and updates using Markdown and other collaboration tools.
Support testing activities including unit and functional testing, code coverage analysis, and static code analysis.
