About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Software Integration Engineer 3 to assist with system design, development, and verification testing and create system documentation and build procedures. This role requires expertise in Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of Installation Packages, tools, software, and documentation. The engineer will identify gaps in documentation and software, evaluate installation resources, and collaborate with the development team to resolve defects. A key responsibility is building repeatable installation processes and resolving defects in system implementation documentation and build procedures. The role also involves integrating solutions into new or modified systems, validating functional and non-functional requirements, and assisting with documentation updates. The engineer will review project documentation, verify security controls, and may serve in a leadership role, providing guidance, conducting independent research, or acting as a subject matter expert. Additionally, the role includes developing technical presentations, recommending process improvements, estimating resources and schedules, and providing technical guidance and mentorship. The engineer will also perform analysis of alternatives, recommend technologies, design and implement solutions based on stakeholder requirements, and research business cases for new technologies. Developing system installation/build procedures and analyzing/resolving system performance issues are also part of the responsibilities, along with assisting with integration test procedures.

Requirements

  • Must have experience building an Installation Package.
  • Must be able to create a repeatable installation process for system engineers.
  • Shall identify defects of system implementation documentation and build procedures and work with the development team to resolve and retest these procedures until results are favorably repeatable.
  • Clearance Required: TS/SCI Poly
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Assurance, Information Systems, or related discipline is required.
  • Twelve (12) years of experience as an engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Fifteen (15) years’ experience as a SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • DoD 8570.01-M compliance with IAM Level 2 is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with system design, development, and verification testing.
  • Create system documentation and build procedures.
  • Provide expertise in Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of Installation Packages, tools, software, and documentation.
  • Support identification of gaps in documentation, software, or other elements of an Installation Package.
  • Evaluate installation resources and work with a development team to resolve defects of an Installation Package.
  • Build an Installation Package.
  • Create a repeatable installation process for system engineers.
  • Identify defects of system implementation documentation and build procedures and work with the development team to resolve and retest these procedures until results are favorably repeatable.
  • Integrate solutions into new or modified systems or operating environments.
  • Validate and analyze functional requirements and produce sufficient test cases to validate that the installation meets intended functional requirements.
  • Derive further test cases if needed to isolate any defects discovered.
  • Validate any non-functional requirements such as performance targets of the system.
  • Assist with updates to documentation based on new test cases or implementation steps identified.
  • Review project documentation and build procedures.
  • Verify and validate that security controls for the system meet stated confidentiality, integrity, and availability requirements.
  • Serve in a leadership role providing guidance and direction to a development or engineering team in a program.
  • Perform independent research to analyze and resolve highly complex IT issues.
  • Serve as a recognized subject matter expert in a program-related technology or domain area.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations or demonstrations to customers or stakeholders.
  • Recommend processes or standards that enhance the efficiency or productivity of an IT system.
  • Develop estimate of resources and schedule required to implement IT systems/components.
  • Provide technical guidance or mentorship to other team members.
  • Perform an analysis of alternatives and recommend the application of appropriate technologies that meet system performance or functional requirements.
  • Design and develop solutions by analyzing stakeholder requirements and conferring with users or system engineers and software developers.
  • Design and implement solutions to complex problems and large-scale projects.
  • Research, document, and present business cases for migrating to and incorporating new technologies.
  • Develop system installation or build procedures or scripts.
  • Analyze and resolve system performance issues (e.g., response time or timing problems, interface/integration problems, system bottlenecks, data flow issues).
  • Assist with developing, executing and analyzing integration test procedures for system components.
