Perform highly visible on-site and remote software installations and upgrades of all Varian Software products, which includes troubleshooting and diagnosis as needed. This role involves working with physical and virtual environments, operating systems, databases, and other software and networking technologies. The engineer will review the scope of work for assigned tasks, ensure all hardware and software components are available, and review customer IT infrastructure and project plans to ensure they meet documented installation requirements. The position also requires completing all necessary task documentation to meet Varian's Quality processes and procedures, maintaining customer system inventories, and staying current on Varian products and technologies through training and certification. Collaboration with project management, local service, and hardware installation teams is essential for providing World Class Customer Service. The role includes performing upgrades and new installations, potentially leading small to medium-scale software projects, and inputting detailed records of work performed into company information systems. Maintaining professionalism and safety according to VMS guidelines and customer regulations is paramount. Regular and timely reporting through FSRs, time sheets, and expense reports is required. The engineer will use prescribed problem-resolution escalation procedures and request technical assistance when necessary. Attending planning calls and providing technical input, advising customers on product information resources, and mentoring less experienced Installation Representatives are also key aspects of the role.
