Wells Fargo's Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) is making a significant multi-year investment in its Trading platform to provide an even more compelling and competitive offering to customers. This investment will add important new capabilities and features both for self-directed and advisor driven trading. To support these customer-centric enhancements and to ensure the platform scales for future success, we are embarking on a technology modernization effort to improve time to market. The key to our success will be hiring best-in-class technology professionals into a number of newly created roles, to supplement our existing team with targeted top talent to drive our transformation. We are looking for people with experience modernizing complex, mission critical applications at scale, while the platform continues to support ongoing business growth. The Trading and Capital Markets Trading Engineering team manages, develops and supports critical trading applications for Capital Trading Markets desk and also provides services for self directed and advisors trading. It has approximately 50 engineers globally between the US and India. Our main development centers in the US are in Charlotte (NC) and St. Louis (MO). You should expect to spend time in the office on a flexible schedule collaborating with your team. Our engineers are a mixture of full stack, front end and back-end service experts, who take advantage of the firm’s commitment to ongoing professional development through a wide range of resources. We have a separate first line support team that allows engineers to focus on their objectives. Our partnership with our business and co-ownership of work through the Agile product operating model means that there is plenty of opportunities for you to work directly with our business partners and further your understanding of the business. Wells Fargo's Capital Markets Trading team is seeking a Software Engineering Senior Manager to lead the Trading product teams for their Charolotte location. This leader will be responsible for architecting, designing and implementing strategic capabilities to modernize and scale legacy platforms within the Trading space. They will play a critical role in shaping the product definition, design, roadmap, and development of the current and new trade products. The team promotes modern trade engineering best practices intended to improve quality and improve time to market. Key skills include solutions architecture, domain driven design, test driven design and experience building and deploying. It is crucial that the Senior Manager has financial knowledge in wealth management, Fixed Income, Equities and options, and order execution management. This manager will work on modern engineering practices in the artificial intelligence and machine learning. They will also develop direct reports by coaching, mentoring and enabling the work of software engineers.

Requirements

7+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
3+ years of Management experience

Nice To Haves

3+ years of financial services experience , preferably in Trading
3+ years' experience .NET/Java software development
Experience in the wealth management industry
Experience with modern engineering including big data: Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning

Responsibilities

Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture; application modernization, data strategy
Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
Collaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering
Hire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers
