About The Position

Salesforce is seeking an experienced software engineer to build high-quality, maintainable software for its trusted CRM platform. The role encompasses architecture, design, implementation, and testing, with a focus on stable, scalable products and features that have measurable impact for customers and the business. It also emphasizes advanced prompt engineering and the development of reliable, secure, production-ready AI outputs. The position involves backend application development across Salesforce products and clouds, designing and tuning APIs for multi-tenant environments, working with large cloud data sets, and integrating internal and external systems. The engineer will use modern engineering practices and AI tools as part of the development workflow, evaluate human- and AI-generated code, and help design systems in which AI agents integrate with human workflows. Big Data work may involve large-scale distributed technologies on a modern containerized deployment stack. Participation in the team's on-call rotation is required.

  • Experience with Spring, gRPC, REST, and the HTTP protocol.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology.
  • A demonstrated AI-first approach to engineering, using AI to work faster, build fluency across the stack, and contribute beyond one's core specialty.
  • Experience using AI tools in development workflows, such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Cursor.
  • Advanced prompt-engineering skills, including writing precise, structured prompts and cultivating system context for reliable, secure, production-ready AI outputs.
  • Availability to participate in the team's on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop backend applications for Marketing, Commerce, Sales, Big Data, Service, Einstein, MuleSoft, Platform, Industries Clouds, Slack, and Heroku.
  • Design, implement, and tune robust APIs and API framework features that perform and scale in a multi-tenant environment.
  • Handle large data sets in cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, Alibaba, and/or Azure.
  • Integrate internal and external systems.
  • Apply test-driven development practices and use CI/CD tools.
  • Build and ship high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices and AI development tools.
  • Design and orchestrate complex systems in which AI agents integrate with human workflows.
  • Contribute to maintaining shared system context, including system designs, constraints, and standards that support accurate and reliable AI operation.
  • Critically evaluate human- and AI-generated code for correctness, quality, security, and performance.
  • For Big Data roles, work with large-scale distributed systems technologies such as Phoenix, HBase, MapReduce, Yarn, Kafka, Spark, Hive, Presto, or equivalents on a modern containerized deployment stack.
