Software Engineering Lead
About The Position
LexisNexis Risk Solutions is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to provide hands-on technical leadership and people management for a team of software engineers. The role combines software architecture, application development, technical problem-solving, project delivery, and team leadership. The successful candidate will drive engineering excellence, deliver scalable enterprise solutions, and foster a high-performing, collaborative Agile team. The Lead Software Engineer represents the development team in daily stand-ups, communicating progress, risks, dependencies, and delivery timelines to business and product stakeholders. The role includes refining requirements, managing user story updates, conducting research and analysis, generating data extracts, performing code reviews, and promoting engineering best practices. It also drives automation and innovation using GitHub Actions, AI-powered chatbots, and intelligent agents to improve development, quality, and operational efficiency. People leadership includes regular one-on-ones, goal setting, coaching, mentoring, development planning, and performance evaluations. LexisNexis Risk Solutions’ Business Services vertical offers solutions that help businesses drive revenue growth, maximize operational efficiencies, and improve customer experience. Its solutions address anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, identity authentication and verification, fraud and credit risk mitigation, and customer data management.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in software engineering.
- Hands-on experience in enterprise Java development and architecture, proficiency in Python, and experience in polyglot environments.
- Hands-on experience with ETL development, data integration, and data pipeline design, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Strong experience with AI/ML/DL-based systems and Generative AI technologies.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms and toolchains, ideally AWS and Microsoft Azure, and ability to learn additional platforms.
- Strong knowledge of API-first development, system integration, SQL, query optimization, and complex data modeling.
- Experience with multiple data storage technologies, data quality, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated experience leading software engineers, managing direct reports, and delivering complex technical projects.
- Ability to deliver high-quality, secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
- Ability to ensure effective implementation of engineering standards and reliable ETL and data integration solutions.
- Ability to develop and retain engineering talent while fostering accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the insurance industry, particularly across Auto, Property, and Commercial lines, with exposure to Claims and Policy data.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and maintenance of complex enterprise software systems and applications.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership while mentoring engineers, delegating effectively, and managing direct reports.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs, development plans, and scalable software solutions.
- Establish engineering best practices, including code reviews, test-driven development, automated testing, and coding standards.
- Lead the development and integration of AI/ML, Deep Learning, and Generative AI-based solutions.
- Design, develop, and optimize ETL processes, data pipelines, and data integration workflows.
- Manage project plans, schedules, priorities, technical risks, and delivery commitments.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, internal technology teams, and external partners to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Represent the development team in daily stand-ups and communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and delivery timelines to business and product stakeholders.
