About The Position

This position is for a Software Engineering Intern during the Summer of 2027 as part of the Raytheon Fellowship Program. The selected candidate will intern with Raytheon, focusing on satellite ground systems and related software projects. The program seeks students in their sophomore or junior year, or seniors pursuing a master's degree. Participants will be submitted for a national security clearance and may be eligible for signing bonuses. The role involves working on complex problems in the aerospace and defense industry, with opportunities for career growth. Raytheon's Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) unit specializes in integrated air and missile defense, advanced sensors, space-based systems, hypersonics, effectors, and cyber solutions. The Space Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance Sub-SBU within ASDS delivers information superiority from space. Interns typically work on satellite ground systems, implementing AI/ML processing tools, developing algorithms, modeling and simulating systems, performing trade studies, improving software efficiency, and developing production software in an Agile environment. These are onsite roles in Aurora, CO.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in an applicable discipline and actively enrolled through completion of the internship / co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 30 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Experience developing object-oriented software using Java.
  • Knowledge of data structures.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience programming using C++ and Python.
  • Experience with Agile development.
  • Interest in satellite ground system software and related technologies such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, and flight dynamics models.
