About The Position

This position is for an Intern who will be entering their Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Post-Graduate year by the start of Summer 2027. The Software organization develops software applications, including integration and test on missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems. Our precision software and firmware integrate operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to bring together sensors, guidance, and flight control processing features to complete the mission. The Software org is made up of several Centers located across the country, responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in an applicable discipline and actively enrolled through completion of the internship / co-op session.
  • Experience with C, C++, or Java.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security interim clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of C/C++ programming, structured programming concepts.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design and Unified Model Language.
  • Knowledge of statistical and numerical methods.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and leaders in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of application software, and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems.
  • Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
  • Participate in internal review of software components and systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.
  • Work on problems with defined scope, schedule, and expectations.
  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.
