About The Position

The System Hardware Engineering Team is seeking an intern passionate about AI and software engineering to design and implement internal AI-powered tools that accelerate hardware design, testing, and analysis workflows. The role offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, software, and hardware engineering and learn how AI can improve engineering productivity at scale. The intern will prototype AI-driven tools for hardware-engineering data analysis, test automation, and debugging; implement backend services in Python and frontend interfaces in TypeScript using React/Next.js; and integrate SQL and vector databases for storage, search, and retrieval. The intern will also explore AI/ML workflows such as embeddings, retrieval, summarization, and code assistance, collaborate with hardware and software engineers to turn requirements into working tools, and produce documentation, tests, and deployment scripts. This is a full-time internship requiring a minimum commitment of four months, with a preference for six months.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python with type hints and TypeScript, including comfort reading and writing code.
  • Basic knowledge of web development, including HTTP, REST APIs, and frontend frameworks.
  • Familiarity with databases, including SQL queries and schema design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity to learn.
  • Able to commit to a minimum four-month full-time internship; six months is preferred.
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks or tools such as Hugging Face, LangChain, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or LLM APIs.
  • Familiarity with at least one backend framework or runtime: FastAPI, Flask, Django, or Node.js.
  • Hands-on knowledge of React/Next.js for web frontend development.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, or vector databases such as Qdrant, Pinecone, or FAISS.
  • Interest in system hardware engineering workflows, including test automation, data analysis, and hardware validation.
  • Enthusiastic, self-driven, and comfortable working in a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype AI-driven tools for hardware engineers’ data analysis, test automation, and debugging workflows.
  • Implement backend services in Python and frontend interfaces in TypeScript using React/Next.js.
  • Integrate databases, including SQL and vector databases, for data storage, search, and retrieval.
  • Explore AI/ML workflows such as embeddings, retrieval, summarization, and code assistance.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to translate requirements into working tools.
  • Write clear documentation, tests, and deployment scripts.
