About The Position

RTX is offering an internship opportunity for students to explore the aerospace and defense industry, learn from experts, and work on complex problems. This co-op session runs from May/June to December, requiring students to take a semester off from coursework. The intern will join the Mission Engineering / Operational Analysis (ME/OA) team, developing modeling and simulation capabilities to analyze architectures and solutions against military customer needs. The role is onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and involves creating engineering code artifacts, documentation, demonstrating progress, and contributing a unique perspective to the team's development efforts.

Requirements

• Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with C/C++ and Python, tools such as JIRA, Git, Subversion (SVN), Docker, Doxygen.
• Experience with Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM).
• Familiarity with DevSecOps tools and techniques.
• Experience in concepts such as CONOPS, system tradeoffs, threat definitions, and system‑of‑system assessments and with simulation, integration and testing.
• Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Responsibilities

• Engage as part of the team in the development of modeling and simulation capabilities for ME/OA projects.
• Create engineering code artifacts and documentation for the project.
• Help demonstrate progress on the work at showcase opportunities.
• Help grow the team and create the biggest impact for our customers by bringing own unique perspective and skills to the development.
