About The Position

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session that will run May/June- December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity). We are seeking an intern to join our Mission Engineering / Operational Analysis (ME/OA) team and be a part of enabling new and novel solutions for the Connected Battlespace. On this team, interns work alongside full‑time team members to develop modeling and simulation capabilities. These capabilities support analysis of our architectures and solutions against the real operational needs of our military customers. Imagine being able to use high fidelity simulations to show the customer how our solutions can make their operations in the field more efficient and effective — that is what we do! This position is onsite, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with C/C++ and Python, tools such as JIRA, Git, Subversion (SVN), Docker, Doxygen.
  • Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps tools and techniques.
  • Experience in concepts such as CONOPS, system tradeoffs, threat definitions, and system‑of‑system assessments and with simulation, integration and testing.
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engage as part of the team in the development of modeling and simulation capabilities for our ME/OA projects.
  • Create engineering code artifacts and documentation for the project.
  • Help demonstrate progress on the work at showcase opportunities.
  • Help grow the team and create the biggest impact for our customers by bringing own unique perspective and skills to the development.
