About The Position

This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, write code in TypeScript and/or Haskell, and contribute to a product used by over 300,000 businesses. Interns will be placed in a team that aligns with their interests and goals, with opportunities to discuss various team openings during the interview process. Regardless of the specific role, all interns are expected to be eager to improve their skills, curious, willing to share their perspectives, appreciate quality in their work and others', and communicate effectively, including writing clear explanations for technical decisions.

Requirements

Backend Engineering Interns: experience using the Haskell programming language, or a strong desire to learn it, and some familiarity with SQL.
Frontend Engineering Interns: experience with the TypeScript programming language.
Full-stack Engineering Interns: experience using the Haskell programming language, or a strong desire to learn it, some familiarity with SQL, and experience using the TypeScript programming language.
Be interested in continually honing their craft.
Have curiosity and be willing to share their perspective.
Appreciate quality in their work and that of others.
Communicate well, and be able to write clear explanations of their reasoning on technical decisions.

Nice To Haves

Frontend Engineering Interns: experience with React is a plus.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with data analysts to spec and build features that draw new customers to our product.
Provide a backend to our mobile and web frontends, to do things like search transactions or send wire transfers.
Build admin tools to increase the efficiency of day-to-day support operations, like identifying fraudulent customers or managing accounts.
Integrate with third-party APIs, to do things like send checks or validate SWIFT codes.
Work on a beautiful app with high UI standards, contributing to a well-implemented design appreciated by startup customers.
Push the limits of TypeScript by leveraging advanced static typing features to prevent errors in a financial technology context.
Work within an established codebase with room for growth, building abstractions and components to develop features.
Optimize performance, such as scrolling performance of a combobox, or build entire pages to deliver features.
Exercise ownership over the product by working closely with designers and contributing ideas to improve the product.
Perform a combination of frontend and backend work depending on the specific intern role.
