About The Position

We are looking for a Payments Software Engineering & Development, AVP reporting directly to the Payment Platform Lead. In this role, you will partner with business stakeholders, payment operations, product owners, and technology teams to support domestic and international payment capabilities across business-critical platforms. You will be responsible for understanding end-to-end payment workflows, documenting and validating requirements, driving process improvements, and helping deliver scalable, compliant, and efficient solutions across payment types such as wire transfers, ACH, RTGS, SEPA, instant payments, and cross-border transactions in a highly regulated environment. The team you will be joining is part of our Global Technology and Payment Platforms organization, a function that is vital to the company because it enables the secure, timely, and resilient movement of critical financial transactions. This role is important because it ensures payment business requirements are accurately defined, business processes are clearly understood across regions and payment rails, and change initiatives are aligned to operational controls, regulatory expectations, client needs, and strategic platform transformation priorities.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex payment flows, operational dependencies, business rules, and impacts across domestic and international payment processes, including wire, ACH, RTGS, SEPA, and instant payment models.
  • Experience delivering business analysis and change initiatives in distributed, multi-team, and multi-location environments, with the ability to coordinate effectively across business, operations, and technology functions.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with business users, payment operations teams, and technology partners.
  • Hands-on experience with requirements management, process mapping, functional validation, UAT support, reconciliation analysis, exception handling, and change readiness in regulated payment environments.
  • Deep experience in financial services and payment processing is highly valued, particularly across domestic and international payment rails, market infrastructures, and schemes such as Fedwire, CHIPS, CHAPS, CHATS, TARGET services, SWIFT, SEPA, and related cross-border payment environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Information Systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, payment operations, payment systems, or enterprise change delivery, with strong exposure to domestic and international payments.
  • The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly controlled environment supporting business-critical domestic and international payment processes.
  • Prior experience with payment operations, transaction systems, and market infrastructures supporting payment types such as wire, ACH, RTGS, SEPA, and cross-border flows will be beneficial, especially in regulatory or audit-sensitive platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications such as Agile Business Analysis, Scrum, or payments-related certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with tools and capabilities such as Jira, Confluence, Excel, SQL, reporting, data analysis, and process modeling is preferred; familiarity with payment platforms, SWIFT MT/MX messaging, ISO 20022, and message types such as pacs.008, pacs.009, pacs.004, camt.052, camt.053, camt.054, and pain.001, along with reconciliation processes, sanctions screening touchpoints, and transaction systems is advantageous.
  • Experience with Agile delivery models, stakeholder workshops, UAT support, production change readiness, and payment-related process or system transformation is desirable.
  • Good-to-have experience includes payment process optimization, business readiness planning, data analysis, control documentation, and support for modernization or transformation programs affecting domestic, regional, and cross-border payment services, including schemes or markets such as CHAPS, CHATS, TARGET services, SWIFT, and SEPA.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders, payment operations teams, product owners, and technology teams to gather, analyze, and document business, functional, data, and control requirements for domestic and international payment capabilities.

  • Work across major domestic and international payment markets and schemes such as Fedwire, CHIPS, CHAPS, CHATS, TARGET services, SWIFT, and other market infrastructures relevant to the business footprint.
  • Translate business objectives into clear user stories, process maps, business rules, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria that support solution design and delivery.
  • Analyze end-to-end payment workflows, identify process gaps, control points, exception scenarios, and operational inefficiencies, and recommend improvements that enhance resiliency, efficiency, and client service.
  • Work closely with business and technology teams to support changes involving payment messages and standards such as SWIFT MT/MX, ISO 20022, and message types including pacs.008, pacs.009, pacs.004, camt.052, camt.053, camt.054, and pain.001, along with reference data, settlement processes, reconciliation, exception handling, sanctions screening touchpoints, and downstream impacts.

  • Design, develop, and enhance payment application components, services, and interfaces using modern engineering practices to support secure, scalable, and high-availability transaction processing.
  • Support system integration across payment engines, middleware, APIs, messaging platforms, databases, and upstream/downstream applications to ensure reliable end-to-end transaction flow.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering standards adoption to improve code quality, maintainability, and platform consistency.
  • Contribute to performance optimization, resiliency improvements, production issue analysis, and root cause remediation for business-critical payment systems.
  • Partner with infrastructure, platform, and security teams to support environment readiness, deployment activities, observability, and compliance-aligned technical implementation.
  • Contribute to audit, control, and regulatory initiatives by ensuring requirements, process documentation, traceability, and evidence are complete and accurate.
