Software Engineering Co-op (Spring/Summer 2027)
About The Position
This is a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session that will run January-August. Students are expected to take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity. The role involves working with a system integration team to provide the operating environment for application teams and support them with tools and troubleshooting for integration points between applications. The team works across engineering disciplines to deliver world-class avionics systems to warfighters on tankers, helicopter, and cargo aircraft. The co-op will assist in migrating software applications between operating systems and hardware environments, build system configuration tables, and configure and build helicopter system field-loadable software.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
- Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with C/C++/Java programming languages
- Experience with Python scripting
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide the operating environment for application teams.
- Support application teams with tools and troubleshooting for integration points between applications.
- Assist in migrating software applications between operating systems and hardware environments.
- Build system configuration tables, identifying inputs and tools from system requirements to enable end-to-end communication and application runtime environments.
- Configure and build helicopter system field-loadable software.
- Help build on existing tools and practices for more consistent automation.
