Define and drive target-state architectures that leverage modern cloud, platform engineering, data, and AI capabilities to deliver scalable, resilient, and secure business solutions. In partnership with Product Owners, Investment Operations, Portfolio Management, Enterprise Architecture, Data Engineering, and Infrastructure teams, this role will establish the architectural direction for Cash Management, Collateral Management, Decision Support Systems (DSS), and Portfolio Master platforms. The Architect will lead technology modernization initiatives that transform how MFS manages cash, collateral, portfolio data, and operational workflows while improving transparency, controls, scalability, and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for defining enterprise architecture standards, guiding cloud transformation efforts, driving AI-enabled innovation, and ensuring technology solutions align with strategic business objectives and enterprise architecture principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise architecture experience.
  • Significant experience within Investment Management, Asset Management, Capital Markets, or Financial Services.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting enterprise-scale systems supporting investment operations, portfolio management, cash management, collateral management, or investment data platforms.
  • Deep expertise designing cloud-native, distributed, and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong experience with Azure cloud services, Azure DevOps, OpenShift, Kubernetes, containers, and modern platform engineering practices.
  • Experience defining enterprise application modernization and cloud migration strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, messaging technologies, and service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience with modern data platforms including Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, Azure SQL, and cloud-native data services.
  • Experience with Microsoft AI technologies including Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and Power Platform.
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, observability, resilience, and operational excellence practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep expertise in cash processing, liquidity management, collateral management, margining, collateral optimization, and operational risk controls.
  • Strong understanding of trade settlement, reconciliation, accounting, and post-trade processing workflows.
  • Experience with Charles River, Eagle, Acadia Margin Manager, Calypso, or similar investment management platforms.
  • Familiarity with Terraform, Helm, Ansible, and other cloud automation technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the target-state architecture and technology roadmap for Cash Management, Collateral Management, DSS, and Portfolio Master platforms.
  • Partner with business leadership to align technology investments with strategic business objectives.
  • Help establish architectural standards, design patterns, integration frameworks, and engineering guardrails across multiple technology domains.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities that improve business capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Drive enterprise cloud adoption initiatives utilizing Azure, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and modern platform engineering practices.
  • Develop architectural strategies for application modernization, containerization, and migration from on-premises platforms to cloud-native and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Define enterprise CI/CD, DevSecOps, observability, operational resilience, and reliability patterns.
  • Establish reference architectures and reusable frameworks that accelerate delivery across engineering teams.
  • Define architectural patterns supporting portfolio, investment, and operational data across DSS and Portfolio Master ecosystems.
  • Develop data integration strategies leveraging APIs, event-driven architectures, and modern data platforms.
  • Promote adoption of Microsoft AI technologies, including Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and intelligent automation capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve operational efficiency, decision-making, and engineering productivity.
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership across multiple delivery teams.
  • Mentor engineers, technical leads, and solution architects on architecture best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with globally distributed teams, and strategic partners to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Participate in enterprise architecture councils, design reviews, and technology governance forums.
