About The Position

Cigna-Evernorth Services Inc. seeks a Software Engineering Advisor for the St. Louis, MO location to design, develop, and maintain complex enterprise software applications. This role involves architecting, writing, and enhancing sophisticated software solutions that support mission-critical healthcare and Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) business functions. The advisor will contribute to cross-functional engineering teams, drive end-to-end software design, development, and quality assurance efforts, and produce detailed technical specifications and solution designs. Responsibilities include performing peer code reviews, upholding engineering best practices, and maintaining complex application codebases through disciplined coding, testing, and debugging. The role also entails leading the delivery of technical solutions for multiple concurrent projects within a major application ecosystem, ensuring high-quality engineering execution and alignment with enterprise technology strategy. Additionally, the advisor will identify and implement process improvements, collaborate with architects to define technology roadmaps, modernize application components, and participate in decisions related to the adoption or retirement of technology tools. They will contribute to reusable engineering standards, troubleshoot urgent production incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and drive long-term corrective actions. The position requires utilizing Java and Spring Boot to build enterprise microservices and orchestration layers, designing, developing, and maintaining backend data persistence solutions using MongoDB, and developing user-interactive front-end applications using ReactJS, HTML5, XHTML, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, JSON, and Bootstrap. Event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka will be implemented to support real-time synchronization across distributed PBM systems. The role involves creating reusable service libraries and building responsive client-server workflows using AJAX and JSON for secure data exchange. Design and implementation of API endpoints to support automated data exchange, user provisioning, and identity and access management workflows, integrating enterprise systems through Boomi middleware and Saviynt Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) solutions are also key responsibilities. The advisor will use GitHub for version control and collaborative development, Node.js and NPM scripts for build and test automation, and Spring IoC and Dependency Injection to create modular and maintainable application components. Writing and maintaining JUnit test suites, implementing observability solutions using Dynatrace and New Relic, and enforcing static code quality standards via SonarQube are also part of the role. Support for the deployment of software components into integration and QA environments and utilization of AWS and OpenShift for hosting, monitoring, and continuous integration of enterprise healthcare applications are expected. This position offers a hybrid work schedule.
