About The Position

Cigna-Evernorth Services Inc. is seeking a Software Engineering Advisor for its Morris Plains, New Jersey location. The role creates detailed specifications and designs, conducts assurance reviews of peer application programming, and serves as a technical resource for less-experienced team members. As a development team member, the advisor helps ensure the quality and timeliness of product development, technical design, and solution implementation. The role collaborates with offshore vendors, HIH team members, and stakeholders across business, finance operations, and TPOs to gather requirements and analyze, design, develop, and enhance customized applications. The advisor builds batch and online adjustment claim systems; partners with QA teams to address design deficiencies; troubleshoots, maintains, and develops application and system solutions; and supports business-mandated products and regular operational processes. Other work includes impact analysis, modifying existing applications, supporting and training stakeholders, helping testers distinguish defects from setup issues during end-to-end testing, root cause analysis and defect resolution during SIT and quality testing, and stress-test analysis and reporting deviations or malfunctions. The position follows a hybrid work schedule. If working from home occasionally or permanently, the employee must have cable broadband or fiber internet with at least 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speeds. The anticipated annual salary range is $111,700–$186,100, depending on relevant factors including experience and geographic location; the role is also anticipated to be eligible for an annual bonus plan.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience.
Experience with Mainframes, COBOL, DB2, Teradata, CICS (Customer Information Control System), Pega, GitHub, Endevor, Claude.ai, and AWS Kiro.

Responsibilities

Ensure the quality and timeliness of product development, technical design, and solution implementation as a development team member.
Coordinate with offshore vendors and HIH team members and partner with business, finance operations, and TPO stakeholders to gather requirements and conduct analysis, design, development, and application enhancements.
Create technical designs and solutions for clients and businesses.
Build batch and online adjustment claim systems.
Partner with QA teams to resolve solution-design deficiencies and related deliverables.
Troubleshoot, maintain, and develop application and system solutions for business-mandated products and regular operational processes.
Perform impact analysis to resolve user queries; modify existing applications; and provide support and training to stakeholders as necessary.
Work with QA testers to provide information that helps distinguish defects from setup issues in end-to-end testing.
Perform root cause analysis of issues in the test and quality environments during SIT and quality testing, and assist with fixing defects.
Perform stress-test analysis and report product deviations or malfunctions within software releases.
