About The Position

ARES is recruiting a Software Engineer to support the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex-Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and CCIC2S Enterprise Networks within the Strategic Warning and Surveillance Systems Acquisition Delta. This full-time remote role supports mission-critical systems that provide warning and attack assessment information for air, missile, and space threats. The programs sustain and modernize specialized warning and assessment systems, integrate mission capabilities and IT infrastructure, and support secure communications, warning processing, system operations, and cybersecurity across critical network interfaces. Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations may be required, approximately 10–20%. The Software Engineer works as part of a government-run agile scenario development team, developing and modifying scenarios, applications, and analytical tools for the test community. The role includes analyzing simulation requirements, supporting simulation installation and maintenance, applying scientific and mathematical models, and producing code, tests, analyses, and technical documentation. The position requires advanced technical capability as a Senior Software Engineer and the ability to guide junior and mid-level engineers.

  • Interact with the government team lead and vendors regarding simulation improvements and maintenance.
  • Coordinate or assist with installation and removal of new or existing simulations.
  • Develop applications using scientific and mathematical models to predict design consequences, perform data analysis, support simulation validation, and assist with data reduction.
  • Support agile creation and modification of scenarios and analytical tools for the test community across organizations and sites, as coordinated by the AFLCMC/HBQ government team lead.
  • Attend agile process meetings, including daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and program increment planning meetings.
  • Assist with analysis and decomposition of user requirements into sprint-sized task descriptions.
  • Build and document test cases to assess the quality of finished products.
  • Write code for scenarios and tools using industry best practices for static and dynamic code analysis, code style, and documentation.
  • Develop test plans, test reports, test procedures, data analysis plans, scenario description documents, verification and validation reports, training documents, and other required documentation.
  • Use statistically significant testing and analysis when assigned by the Government lead and where possible.
  • Present or support results briefings as needed or assigned by the Government lead.
  • Establish and document simulation requirements and performance expectations as needed or assigned by the Government lead.
  • Create modular, user-friendly, fully documented toolsets; provide source code and, where suitable, use widely available higher-order languages such as Python 3 or MATLAB that do not require compilers.
