About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will drive the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment, while integrating advanced AI/ML components to enhance platform capabilities. This role requires strong technical judgment, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving to meet business objectives. You will mentor peers, contribute to innovation, and ensure alignment with Walmart’s standards, supporting a culture of engineering excellence and operational reliability across complex systems. The Creative Platform team develops and maintains Walmart’s first-party self-service ad creative builder, enabling advertisers to create, process, and deliver ad creatives across Walmart’s retail media network. This team manages the full backend stack, including creative management APIs, video transcoding, and image optimization. Focused on scalable and reliable solutions, the team supports onsite and offsite ad delivery, ensuring high performance and seamless integration. Members collaborate closely to drive innovation, maintain system quality, and deliver impactful features that power Walmart’s advertising business end-to-end.

Requirements

Proven expertise in object-oriented programming and documentation-based coding practices.
Strong technical acumen with experience in code review, debugging, and continuous development.
Demonstrated ability to deliver scoped features or models through iterative and incremental development.
Experience integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance software solutions.
Proficiency in software development lifecycle, including CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
Ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable software aligned with platform objectives.
Effective collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams.
Commitment to engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
OR 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
Knowledge of accessibility best practices.

Responsibilities

Own scoped feature and model delivery through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and support.
Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
Integrate AI and ML components to enhance software intelligence and leverage generative AI tools to improve development velocity.
Assist in converting high-level designs into detailed, scalable, and maintainable solutions aligned with platform objectives.
Conduct code reviews, debugging, and defect management to ensure software quality and performance.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and measure solution impact.
Monitor application performance and support continuous improvement through proactive testing and integration.
