About The Position

VARITE is seeking qualified Software Engineers for a role in Fort Meade, MD. The client is a global risk management firm. VARITE, established in 2000, is an award-winning minority business enterprise providing global consulting & staffing services to Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies. With over 850 global consultants, VARITE focuses on delivering excellence through scientific, engineering, technical, and non-technical staff augmentation and talent acquisition services. This is a 5-year contract position with work performed on-site in a classified facility at Fort Meade, MD. The role requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance with an active Full Scope Polygraph.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
• Level 2: 7+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated progression, including meaningful hands-on experience with containerized application development and/or infrastructure automation.
• Level 3: 8+ years of software engineering experience, with majority in cloud-native, Kubernetes-based, or distributed systems contexts.
• Active Top Secret/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph clearance.

Responsibilities

• Level 2: Implement containerized application workflows and infrastructure automation using modern DevOps and cloud-native tooling in a classified environment.
• Level 2: Work closely with senior engineers, backend, frontend, and infrastructure teams to integrate services, develop deployment pipelines, and support scalable Kubernetes-native application deployments.
• Level 3: Design, implement, and improve distributed application orchestration logic across a Kubernetes-native platform in a classified environment.
• Level 3: Lead the development of reusable Helm charts, GitOps templates, and deployment strategies.
• Level 3: Contribute to platform-wide architecture decisions.
• Level 3: Guide junior engineers through design decisions and tradeoffs.
