About The Position

The VOD Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer to build and support business-critical video workflows, systems, and cloud solutions. The VOD Workflows team maintains the automated media pipeline that delivers video-on-demand content to NBCUniversal’s streaming platforms. The work includes troubleshooting workflow and playback issues, configuring video, audio, and subtitle encoding for different platforms and devices, researching streaming-media technologies, and collaborating with Operations, Player, and Client teams to improve video delivery. The role involves designing, building, deploying, and supporting a resilient, scalable, and maintainable VOD workflow system. The engineer partners with Product Owners to turn requirements into technical designs and testable plans; designs software interfaces, APIs, and data contracts; and evolves agentic workflows with suitable integrations, orchestration, guardrails, observability, and human-in-the-loop controls. The position also manages cloud-based content delivery and services, primarily on AWS, and works with vendors and Media Engineering to define requirements, deploy media-processing changes, and resolve defects. This is a hybrid position requiring work from the office at least four days per week; the company may change its in-office requirements.
