About The Position

We are seeking Intermediate and Sr. Software Engineers to support a mission-critical national security program focused on advanced ground, space, and defense systems. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to technologies that support missile tracking, space domain awareness, intelligence operations, and strategic defense initiatives. As a member of a highly specialized engineering team, you will develop and maintain software that directly supports operational missions and decision-making capabilities used across some of the nation's most critical defense programs. Engineers in this environment work on complex technical challenges involving real-time data processing, mission systems integration, advanced algorithms, and high-performance software applications. This position is ideal for software engineers who are passionate about solving difficult technical problems, working within secure environments, and contributing to programs where reliability, performance, and mission success are paramount. The team develops and sustains advanced software systems that process, analyze, and manage mission-critical data in support of national security objectives. Engineers work closely with multidisciplinary teams to enhance existing capabilities while developing next-generation solutions for evolving mission requirements. The systems supported by this program operate in highly demanding environments where software performance, scalability, and accuracy directly impact operational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Strong professional experience developing software in C++
  • Object-oriented design and development experience
  • Experience working within Linux environments, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies
  • Experience debugging, troubleshooting, and optimizing software applications
  • Ability to develop and maintain complex software systems in a team-based environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working on large-scale software development efforts
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM discipline and relevant professional experience OR Master's degree in a related field and relevant experience OR additional equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
  • Professional experience developing software using C++
  • Experience working in Linux-based development environments
  • Experience with object-oriented software design principles
  • Experience working within Agile, Spiral, Waterfall, or similar development frameworks
  • Ability to work full-time on-site within a classified environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, Aerospace, Space, or National Security programs
  • Experience developing software for mission-critical systems
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), including: VxWorks, RT-Linux, FreeRTOS, INTEGRITY
  • Experience with embedded software development
  • Experience with software architecture and systems design
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and high-performance computing environments
  • Experience supporting software integration and system-level testing
  • Experience developing software based on mathematical models or algorithm requirements

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain software applications using C++
  • Develop software solutions supporting mission systems, command and control systems, and data processing applications
  • Implement and test software features based on defined system and algorithm requirements
  • Collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts to deliver mission-focused capabilities
  • Participate in software architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical planning activities
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and performance issues
  • Develop and execute unit tests to validate software functionality and reliability
  • Support software integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment activities
  • Contribute throughout the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with software engineering standards, processes, and best practices
  • Work within Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid development environments as required
