Avaloq’s R&D Lab is building a SaaS, API-first, composable banking platform. The Software Engineer will help develop its Rust backend, creating financial technology where precision, quality and scalability matter, while working closely with engineers in Fort Lauderdale and Zurich. These roles are among the first engineering positions at Avaloq’s new Fort Lauderdale development center and offer significant scope for ownership as the team grows. The position involves working directly with clients, seeing how solutions are used and bringing those insights back into the product. It includes onboarding with the Zurich team, collaborative mornings and productive afternoons, as well as regular travel to Switzerland and occasional travel to client sites. The technology stack includes Rust with Tokio and the AWS SDK for Rust. The platform is serverless-first on AWS, using Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS and S3, with GitHub Actions for CI/CD. Clients integrate through APIs and the Model Context Protocol (MCP); the company does not run containers. Relevant domain experience may include wealth and asset management, discretionary portfolio management, investment performance and attribution, portfolio valuation and rebalancing, benchmarks and fees, or US investment taxation, including tax lots, cost basis, holding periods, wash sales, corporate actions, withholding and tax reporting. Avaloq offers hybrid and flexible working for most employees and is committed to an inclusive, equal-opportunity workplace.
