Software Engineer
About The Position
Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Software Engineer for its Aruba and Silver Peak organization, which develops intelligent-edge networking solutions for campus, branch, mobility, and IoT environments. The role focuses on developing and delivering software subsystems and features for SD-WAN/SASE appliances. The position is onsite, with the expectation that the employee will primarily work from an HPE office. The successful candidate will bring expertise in C or C++, strong Linux skills, and experience building real-time, multithreaded applications on multicore platforms. The role requires working with a large codebase, applying software engineering practices, and using networking knowledge to solve technical problems. A strong background in Software Performance Engineering is especially valued. At the TCP_02 management level, the engineer applies intermediate subject-matter expertise to common technical problems, contributes analysis and recommendations as an informed team member, and works independently within an established framework with moderate supervision. The work includes designing and programming portions of applications, testing and debugging code, documenting work, and coordinating with internal and outsourced development partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of development experience.
- Excellent coding skills in C or C++.
- Hands-on experience in a Linux environment and strong understanding of Linux operating system functionality and capabilities.
- Expertise developing real-time multithreaded applications on multicore platforms.
- Strong software engineering background.
- Good understanding of routing and switching protocols, such as OSPF, BGP, and VRRP.
- Solid technical knowledge of networking protocols and applications, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP, GRE tunneling, IP Security, and firewalls.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a self-motivated approach to complex technical issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to use software application design tools and languages, apply analytical and problem-solving skills, and design applications that run on multiple platform types.
- Knowledge of software application testing methodologies, including executing test plans, debugging, and using testing scripts and tools.
- Mastery of English and the local language; ability to communicate design proposals effectively and negotiate options.

Responsibilities
- Design limited enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of end-user applications running on local, networked, and Internet-based platforms.
- Analyze designs and determine the coding, programming, and integration activities needed to meet objectives and project guidelines.
- Write portions of testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned application components; identify and debug code issues and suggest improvements.
- Participate on project teams with software applications engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, high-quality application solutions.
- Collaborate and communicate with internal and outsourced development partners about software design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Analyze, design, program, debug, and modify software enhancements and products; complete coding, programming, testing, debugging, and installation and maintenance documentation.
- Work with users as needed to define system requirements or necessary modifications.
