In this role, you will work with engineers, program managers, and designers to build and deliver large-scale, distributed systems and features that power OneDrive and SharePoint. You will design, develop, and improve services that manage internet-scale data, enable performant file and site experiences, and advance how people interact with their data. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your skills in distributed systems, data-driven engineering, and service reliability while working on high-impact customer-facing solutions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience collaborating with peers and partner teams to meet joint engineering goals.
  • Solid coding, debugging, algorithm design, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with cloud-scale services and server/service management features.
  • Able to learn new systems quickly and adapt new methodologies to our services.
  • Experience with building cloud-scale infrastructure components.
  • Awareness, passion, and experience related to cloud scale distributed design and patterns.
  • Familiarity with secure software design concepts.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects that include multiple components.
  • Ability and eagerness to work across and partner with multiple engineering teams to achieve business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Works within large-scale distributed systems that are critical for customers around the world.
  • Designs and delivers services that manage internet-scale data stores, enable high-performance file and site browsing and editing experiences, and introduce new capabilities for how people manage and interact with their data and telemetry.
  • Contributes across the full stack, including user-facing experiences, core system logic, large-scale storage systems, and background infrastructure that supports service reliability and engineering productivity.
  • Collaborates with a broad engineering team, including engineers, program managers, and designers, to deliver scalable solutions aligned with OneDrive and SharePoint service needs.
  • Contributes to and helps shape the engineering culture of the OneDrive and SharePoint team through active participation in team practices and collaboration.
  • Applies data-driven approaches to design and implement improvements and new features across products and services.
  • Writes clean, efficient code and develops comprehensive automated tests.
  • Implements telemetry, metrics, and monitoring to understand system behavior and ensure service reliability and performance at scale.
  • Delivers features and capabilities that support hundreds of millions of customers globally.
