The Software Engineer role at Millwood, Inc. is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting software solutions that align with business needs and operational processes. This role collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver reliable, scalable applications and continuously improve existing systems. Software Engineers are expected to contribute across the full development lifecycle—including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and support—while adhering to established coding standards and documentation practices. Depending on level, the role may also include increased ownership of projects, mentoring of team members, and influence on technical direction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2-5 years of development experience
  • Proficiency in VB.NET and/or C# and SQL (including complex queries)
  • Experience with Visual Studio and application development
  • Working knowledge of tools/technologies such as DNN, Crystal Reports, and experience with test-driven data development.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and contribute to multiple projects.
  • Ability to align with and adapt to Millwood’s core values, culture, and team dynamics.
  • Strategic thinker with strong planning and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the capability of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as programmer to assist in developing relevant, responsive, and usable applications designed to accentuate business processes.
  • Collaborate with both in-house and consulting teams to develop new technologies, applications, and other business-related solutions.
  • Plan, organize, and manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Responsible for design, coding, and documentation of software products.
  • Assist with Database design and development and provide end-user support for internally developed software as required.
  • Interface with all departments in the company as required while solving complex business problems.
  • Software development using Microsoft Visual Studio, VB.net and C# .NET.
  • Meet with stakeholders and end users if required to gather data and application development requirements.
  • Build and maintain data dictionaries and application documentation.
  • Responsible for the quality of development, testing, and debugging of applications.
  • Maintain standardized syntax, naming, and documentation methodologies.
  • Document and ensure compliance with data and application business rules.
  • Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
