Software Engineer - Founding Team
About The Position
Onyx Odds is a social sports prediction game poised to shake up the world of sports. Onyx has seen immense growth in user activity and positive feedback resulting in an expansion of the team. Onyx is a venture backed startup, having raised millions in VC funding. The founders are recent Harvard grads with backgrounds at Jane Street and Retool. Onyx Odds is based in New York City with its offices in downtown Manhattan. We’re looking to add a key engineering hire to our very lean team. We are looking for someone who’s excited to work directly with the founding team to build, own, and scale the core product. As a Software Engineer, you’ll have end-to-end responsibility across the stack, significant product input, and the opportunity to shape both the technical architecture and company from day one.
Requirements
- Computer Science degree from a top university
- Strong full-stack skills: TypeScript, React, SQL
- Experience with mobile development (native iOS/Android or React Native)
- 3–6+ years of experience as a full stack engineer (or equivalent capability)
- Thrive in startup environments — you’re entrepreneurial, resourceful, and get energy from building things that users love
Nice To Haves
- A background developing low-latency systems or performance sensitive applications is a plus
- A background or interest in sports is a plus
Responsibilities
- Own projects from inception to production, including architecture decisions, implementation, and observability
- Collaborate directly with founders on product direction, roadmap, and prioritization
