About The Position

Airgas is hiring a Software Engineer in Cheshire, CT. This role involves developing and maintaining Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM) software for chemical automation equipment, including programming, testing, troubleshooting, and customer assistance for field deployments. The company emphasizes safety as its top priority and utilizes SCRUM/agile development strategies. The position is in-office, requires some travel, and does not offer sponsorship opportunities.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 0-2 years programming experience required.
  • 0-2 years experience with C# and .NET programming is required.
  • 0-2 years experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MS SQL is required.
  • 0-2 years experience designing and developing desktop user interfaces is required.
  • Strong communications and organizational skills are required.
  • Must be able to create and execute software validation plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the latest version of Visual Studio and .NET Core is a plus.
  • Experience consuming web APIs is a plus.
  • Basic ASP.NET MVC web development is a plus.
  • Windows Forms experience is a plus.
  • WPF and MVVM development experience desired.
  • LabVIEW, Modbus, and exposure to other scripting languages (Python, JS, etc.) is a plus.
  • Basic electrical knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge and understanding of thermodynamics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise for application development, system setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Automation of industrial controls and sensors (valves, flow controllers, pressure transducers, etc.).
  • Follow proper design patterns and StyleCop rules to write maintainable code.
  • Utilize version control in Github to ensure source code integrity.
  • Use SCRUM/agile development strategies to keep projects on track and provide status updates.
  • Create technical product documentation and software specifications.
  • Write unit tests and perform regression testing.
  • Work with team members in other groups to accomplish business objectives.
  • Resolve support issues remotely or on-site with production systems to maintain systems uptime.
  • Travel up to 20%.
