#Software Engineer – Engineer

QualcommSan Diego, CA
Onsite

About The Position

This position is not eligible for Qualcomm immigration sponsorship. Come work with us in beautiful and sunny San Diego on exciting web development projects! The QCT Software Automation and Tools (QSWAT) group is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, develop, test, and maintain web‑based and cloud‑hosted tools that form part of Qualcomm’s cloud‑based software automation and CI/CD ecosystem, enabling internal engineering teams to build, integrate, and release high‑quality software at scale. This role is ideal for engineers who have solid fundamentals, are comfortable working independently on assigned tasks, and are growing toward owning larger technical areas. As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of production systems while continuously strengthening your technical skills and understanding of the broader platform. You will work on moderately complex features and software components, executing assigned tasks independently with guidance as needed, and applying established engineering best practices within an Agile environment. Our team builds modern, AI‑enhanced applications using a microservices architecture with event‑driven patterns, deployed on Kubernetes in AWS. You will work across the full stack — from React/TypeScript frontends to .NET and Python backend services — and collaborate closely with teammates and cross‑functional partners. You will actively participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies. You will receive technical direction from senior engineers while being expected to manage your own priorities, adapt to changing requirements, and consistently meet quality and delivery expectations as part of a fast‑moving, collaborative team.

  • Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, with experience using React and modern frontend tooling (e.g., Vite, React Router)
  • Backend development experience using C# (.NET Core) or Python
  • Exposure to web frameworks such as ASP.NET Core, Flask, or Django
  • Familiarity with Git version control and branching workflows (e.g., GitHub Flow)
  • Understanding of relational databases, particularly SQL Server
  • Basic experience or exposure to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines)
  • Experience with modern React ecosystem: React Router v7, TanStack Query, Jotai or Zustand for state management
  • Familiarity with monorepo tooling (Turborepo, pnpm)
  • Exposure to containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes
  • Awareness of cloud platforms, particularly AWS (S3, CloudFront, EKS)
  • Interest in or experience with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot)
  • Familiarity with observability tools (OpenTelemetry) or testing frameworks (Vitest, Playwright)
  • Exposure to infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform or Helm

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications and backend services under guidance from senior team members
  • Implement features and enhancements on existing systems using React/TypeScript frontends and .NET Core or Python backend services
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code following established standards, including unit tests (Vitest, xUnit) and integration tests
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs following team API design standards (routing, versioning, error handling, OpenAPI documentation)
  • Work with SQL Server databases for data modeling, querying, and performance tuning
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand‑ups, retrospectives, and demos
  • Debug issues, analyze root causes, and propose fixes for moderately complex problems
  • Collaborate effectively with teammates and cross‑functional partners
  • Contribute to code reviews by providing thoughtful, constructive feedback
  • Use AI‑assisted development tools to accelerate development workflows
