About The Position

TAP Engineering is seeking a Software Engineer to develop, enhance, and prototype analytics and automation solutions that modernize compliance and business processes. You’ll work at the intersection of software engineering, data science, and machine learning to develop new capabilities, evaluate emerging technologies, and turn research concepts into practical solutions.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (most recent poly within the last 7 years)
  • DoD 8570 IAT II certification
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with GM Learn
  • Experience conducting exploratory data analysis (EDA)
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience building and monitoring machine learning models
  • Experience with machine learning feature development, including Random Forest
  • Experience with Scikit-learn
  • Experience with Jupyter Notebooks
  • Experience with Java and/or Scala
  • Experience with SQL, JSON, Lucene, and/or JEXL
  • Experience with Git/GitLab and/or Bitbucket/Stash
  • Familiarity with ML data processing and distributed computing technologies such as Ghostmachine (Map/Reduce) and/or Spark
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Background in data science, machine learning, or a related technical discipline

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance analytics, automation, and compliance-focused software solutions
  • Design and implement machine learning models and data-driven approaches to improve business and compliance processes
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), feature development, and model evaluation
  • Research, integrate, and test emerging ML/AI technologies and proof-of-concept solutions
  • Develop, deploy, and monitor machine learning models, metrics, data flows, and supporting tools
  • Build and maintain data processing and analytics workflows in Linux environments
  • Develop software using Python, Java, and/or Scala
  • Work with structured and unstructured data using technologies such as SQL, JSON, Lucene, and JEXL
  • Apply machine learning techniques including Random Forest and other classification and predictive models
  • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and mission stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Use version control, development, and collaboration tools to manage code and project workflows
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and review existing documentation
  • Ensure solutions align with applicable agency compliance standards, policies, and systems
